WordPress Developer

We are looking for an experienced and passionate WordPress Developer to join our team! 

We build our apps on a WordPress backend and also build some client websites connected to the same WordPress DB as the apps. Working with the app developers to update code existing code base and improve quality of meditation apps for our existing estate and also get stuck in on an upcoming new app and website we are in the process of planning and building. 

As a WordPress Developer at Interconnected, you will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins, managing WordPress infrastructure and site security.

We are expecting you to have a strong understanding of latest industry trends and content management systems.

We are a small, but growing team and albeit the role is primarily WordPress Development, we do need someone who is happy to work flexibly with other areas, such as some support, some app publishing to app stores and replying to user feedback and so on. Longer term as the team grows, those positions will have dedicated staff. We have the start-up approach that we “can do” anything if we put our minds to it and try to do it with a smile. WordPress Developer duties and responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing new features and functionality for front and back ends
  • Backend administration
  • Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture
  • Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
  • Working on frontend designs with clients and internally
  • Documentation of the infrastructure
  • Helping clients and app customers with support issues
  • App releases to the stores in coordination with the developers
  • Security management of WordPress Infrastructure
  • Site plugin updates and management

WordPress Developer requirements and qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
  • Strong understanding of PHP back-end development
  • Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
  • Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
  • Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
  • Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
  • Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
  • Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools {{such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial}}
  • Some understanding of Ionic, Cordova and web apps development will be useful
  • Some helpdesk knowledge required for managing support issue as and when they arrive
